Funeral services for Mr. Talley T. Sorrell, Sr., 84, of Tylertown, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. The Reverend Carl Dickens will officiate. Burial will be in the Carson Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Sorrell passed away at his residence in Avondale, Louisiana on Thursday, May 3, 2012. He was born November 2, 1927 in Walthall County, Mississippi to the late Walter E. and Loretta Thomas Sorrell. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Exie Mae Vince; brothers Enoch, John, Nevells, Edgar, Lloyd Sorrell and son-in-law Anthony Percle, Sr.
He was retired from Lengsfield Bros. in New Orleans where he had worked as a machinist. Mr. Sorrell had served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being around the water and spending time at his camp.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Thomas Sorrell; son Talley T. Sorrell, Jr.; daughters Daphne S. (A.J.) McConnell, Paulette S. Percle, Tracey Sorrell, Stacey S. Centanni; sisters Lois S. McKenzie, Virginia S. Foxworth, Jean S. Ball, Dean S. Rushing, and Betsy S. Magee; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Anthony Percle, Jr., Travis Percle, Trey Centanni, Mark Majoria, Brad Majoria and Jeffrey Sorrell. Honorary pallbearer is son Talley T. Sorrell, Jr.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, May 6 from 11 A.M. until service time there at 2 P.M.
Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
