Funeral services for Mr. Cagie T. Holmes, 93, of Tylertown, will be held at 3 P. M. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. The Reverends Mickey Meyers and Greg Touchstone will officiate. Burial will be in Rushing Cemetery.

Mr. Holmes passed away at Billdora Senior Care Center in Tylertown on Friday, May 18, 2012. He was born August 21, 1918 in Pike County, Mississippi to the late Benjamin Cullen and Lizzie Johnson Holmes. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers Newton, Elijah and Cayce Holmes; granddaughter Myrna Jordan; and great-grandchildren Breianna Holmes and Drew Luckett.

He was a factory worker at Haspel and a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Holmes had served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He loved gardening and farming.

Survivors include his wife Myrtle Boyd Holmes of Tylertown; son Charles Holmes (Faye) of Pearl; daughter Jennie Sanford (Steve) of Tylertown; sister Allie Holmes of Tylertown; seven grandchildren Tracy Harvey, Jeremy Sanford, Beverly Hill, Timothy Holmes, Rhonda Luckett, Cindy Ware, and Tara Jordan; thirteen great-grandchildren Jacob and Olivia Harvey, Keith and Raini Sanford, Dianna and Richard Johnson, Elizabeth and Lindsey Hill, Daisy Holmes, Amanda Luckett, Zack Luckett, Joshua Jordan, and Christen Ware; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Holmes, Jeremy Sanford, Richard Johnson, Adam Holmes, David Luckett, and Zack Luckett. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Johnson, Charles Smith, and Darrell Broom.

Visitation will be at the church on Monday, May 21 from 10 AM until service time there at 3 PM.
