Funeral services for Johnathan “John” Steven Rushing, 33, of Tylertown, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with Bro. Winston Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown Cemetery.

Mr. Rushing died on Friday, August 23, 2013 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

He was born July 3, 1980 in McComb, Mississippi, to Steven Paul Rushing and Melody Roberts Rushing. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Russell Roberts; and paternal grandmother Audine Rushing.

John had worked as a crane operator for T. K. Stanley, Inc. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling; but he especially loved canoeing and tubing on the river.

He is survived by wife January “Jan” Moak Rushing of Franklinton; daughters Kailyn Rushing and Hailey Rushing both of Tylertown and Janna Rushing of Franklinton; mother Melody Roberts Rushing and father and step-mother Steve and Kim Rushing; maternal grandmother Minnie Darr and husband George of Tylertown; paternal grandfather Paul Rushing of Tylertown; brother Michael Paul Rushing of Tylertown; sister Melissa Rushing Fortenberry of Tylertown; aunts DeeDee Thomas, Tammy Broussard, and Linda May; uncle Rusty Roberts; nephew Caleb Rushing and nieces Autumn Rushing and Alleigh-Ann Lightell.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Broussard, Mike Cox, Linn Bickham, Marty Martin, Patrick Stinson, and Brian Brumfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Martin, Johnny Holmes, Joey Holmes, and Lance Elam.

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 5 – 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until service time there at 2 p.m.
