Adris Brock

February 8, 1935 – January 14, 2023

Adris Selby Brock, 87, of Tylertown, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Walthall County General Hospital in Tylertown.  He was born February 8, 1935 in Tylertown to the late Otymore Brock and Idell Brock.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister Dorothy Ellen Brock, brother Sedric Brock, grandson Tyler David Brock, and nephews Gene Brock and Steve Brock.

Known by many other names, including Mr. Ad, Bo, Cotton, Uncle Bo, papaw, and daddy, Adris was a graduate of Lexie High School in Walthall County, Southwest MS Jr College, and University of Southern Mississippi. Adris earned a bachelor's degree in Health And Physical Education.

He served three years in the US Army, where he acted as Physical Activity Specialist. He worked for the Tylertown post office for 30 years, where he retired as city mail carrier. Following retirement, he worked part time at Ball Hardware.

A talented carpenter and woodworker, his favorite project was the log cabin on the Bogue Chitto that he built with the help of his sons. He was a longtime member of Tylertown Baptist Church, where he not only taught a boys' Sunday School class but also coached boys and girls softball. Adris also coached little league baseball. A lover of all sports, he played basketball on his high school team and later enjoyed playing tennis and softball. His love of sports was inherited by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren- all of whom he enjoyed watching play. He also loved being outdoors, especially on his tractor.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janice Stinson Brock; his daughter Sheila Knippers (Mike), and sons, Keith (Lue) and Lance (Susan); grandchildren: Bridgett Breeland, Morgan VanLandingham (David), Sarah Kennedy (Keagan), Zackary Brock, Logan Brock, Abigail Brock, and Victoria Brock; great-grandchildren: Russ Dillon, Averi Magee, Owen VanLandingham, Rowan Daigle, and Cooper VanLandingham; brother, Marvin Brock; family by love, Joelle, Bradley, Kaleigh, and Alicen Magee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Services for Mr. Adris will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023 with visitation starting at noon and ending with service time at 2:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. Bro. Justin Knight and Bro. Buddy Day will be officiating. Interment will follow at Tylertown Cemetery.
