Alexander “A.B.” Benjamin Rushing Jr., passed away on August 21, 2026. He was born on June 30, 1937, in Tylertown, MS to the late Alexander Rushing and Eula Boyd Rushing. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years Arey Dean Sorrell Rushing; four brothers; and five sisters.

Mr. Rushing used his many talents as a skilled carpenter, employee at Tyler Tools, and with Transco/Williams Pipeline as a boiler operator until his retirement. Mr. A. B. was a faithful Christian and a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church where he served as deacon and on several committees throughout the years. His deep faith and love for others were evident through his true passion for prison ministry. Mr. Rushing’s kind and gentle ways will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors are sons, Bradley Rushing (Kara) and Trent Rushing (Lacey); grandchildren, Dylan Rushing, Tyler Rushing (Siara), Caden Rushing (Kensley), Tyson Rushing (Jenny), Logan Rushing (Brooke), and Alivia Davis (Devin); great grandchildren, AJ Rushing, Chesley Rushing, Lorelai Rushing, and Eri Rushing; sister, Polly Boyd; sister-in-law Jean Ball; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Visitation will be held on August 25, 2026, at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave. Tylertown, MS, at 3:00 PM until funeral service at 4:00 PM with Reverend Millard Moak officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Church Cemetery. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Rushing, Tyler Rushing, Caden Rushing, Tyson Rushing, Logan Rushing, and Devin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Union Baptist Church.
