Bessie Janice Vince

Bessie Janice Vince, 82 of Sandy Hook, MS passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 in Tylertown, MS. She was born Friday, February 28, 1941 in Tylertown, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 9:30 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at Carson Springs Baptist Church in 10 Thad Road, Sandy Hook, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Carson Springs Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Mississippi. Bro. Carl Dickens and Bro. Archie Herrin will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Janice had a servants heart and was a great host when people would come by and visit always making sure that everyone was fed and full; she was known for her caramel icing and cake. She raised guineas, chickens, and quail; but was most known for her peacocks. Mrs. Vince enjoyed working in her greenhouse and with her flowers but her favorite pastime was fishing for catfish.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lavon Vince; father K C Hobgood; mother  Grace Reagan Hobgood.

Survivors include her son Jeffrey Vince (Brandy); daughter Tammy Bacot (Ellen Brannan);  grandchildren Daniel Bacot (Courtney) and Nicholas Vince;  sister, Jouette Allmand;  nephew Timothy Ervin (Misty); niece Michelle Alexander; along with a host of friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Bacot, Nicholas Vince, Jody Knight, Steven Fortenberry, Robert Hartzog, and Brent Pierce.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice Compassus and her nurses, Jennifer Fenn and Leah Davis for their service and kindness they showed to Mrs. Janice and her family.
