Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Morris, 82, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with the Reverends Michael Morris and Matt Robinson officiating. Music will be by Anson Morris. Burial will be in Rushing Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris passed away at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. She was born December 15, 1934 in Bonifay, Florida to the late Pink Jenkins and Benny Inez Irene Phillips Jenkins Partin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Walter Morris; and brother Dudley Pink Jenkins.

Mrs. Morris was a member of Mesa Baptist Church. She was the co-owner and co-operator of Valley Seed and Supply and Valley Western Store in Tylertown; Kramertown Feed Store and Kramertown Western Store in McComb; Gloster Feed Store in Gloster ; Columbia Feed and Seed in Columbia and Valley Wholesaler's Supply in McComb. Mrs. Morris was an accomplished seamstress who could sew anything, but especially enjoyed making heirloom baby clothing, clothes for her children and grandchildren, and making dolls. She also enjoyed painting with oils, decorating cakes, and writing poetry.


Survivors include three daughters and their husbands Dona Rushing (Rickey), Debra and Thornhill (Harry Joe), and Dianne McCreary (Paul); sister Nancy Elizabeth Pitts; half-brother Gerald Eugene Nelson; nine grandchildren Mandi Rushing Smith (John), Missy Rushing Sumrall (Todd), Adam Rushing (Dedra), Andy Rushing (Brandie), Amanda Jane Rushing White (Jason), Janie Thornhill Anderson (Jason), Joseph Thornhill (Darlene), Courtney McCreary, and Bailey Babb (Landon); fourteen great-grandchildren Karlee Magee (Josh), Lanee Sumrall Holmes (Dylan), Waylon Sumrall, Gracee Guillory, Ty King, Tripp White, Emery Anderson, Emmett Anderson, Jace Rushing, Kaelyn Rushing, Vera Kate Rushing, Haylee Rushing, Hallee Rushing, and Hanalee Rushing; three great-great grandchild Mayzee Grace Magee, Everlee Faith Magee, and Princlee Rae Holmes; and a host of nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers will be Andy Rushing, Adam Rushing, Joseph Thornhill, Paul McCreary, Harry Joe Thornhill, and Waylon Sumrall.


Honorary pallbearers will be Jace Rushing, Ty King, and Todd Sumrall.


Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until service time there at 11:00 A.M.
