Billie Jean Harvey Holmes was Born on July 2, 1927 to James Homer and Lela Holmes Harvey. She was a resident of Tylertown, MS and a member of Magee's Creek Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Van Holmes; daughter, Lee Ellzey; father, James Homer Harvey; mother, Lela Mae Holmes Harvey; and 13 siblings.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Holmes; daughters, Linda Brumfield (Stanley) and Jean Baucum (Durwood); grandchildren, Rick Amonett (Leslie), Julie Nixon (Steve), Robert Amonett (Rebecca), Joel Amonett (April), Lance Ellzey (Briana), Vanessa Boyd (Justin), Sammy Wells, Van Wells (Ellie), Eric Holmes (Kristi) and Derek Holmes (Robin); step grandchildren Kevin Brumfield (Amber) and Alex Brumfield (Lori); numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Greg Ellzey; sister-in-law, Wessie Harvey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was the most brilliant, beautiful, talented, and compassionate woman on Earth. Her Family looked to her for comfort and guidance. She was our confidante and best friend.

Billie Jean was an artist. Quilting, sewing, crocheting, and cooking were just a few of the examples. Her precious hands cooked endless meals for her family. She could build fences, mow grass, catch fish, plant a garden, and process deer meat. As a child she helped on the farm and in the fields. There was nothing she couldn't do. She was a wonderful role model and light that will shine on in her offspring. She always prayed for her children daily that God would look after them. We firmly believe that is why our families have been so blessed. We will love you always precious Mama.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Magee`s Creek Baptist Church, 174 Darbun Road, Jayess, MS 39641, from 11:00 AM until funeral service at 12:00. Burial will follow in Magee`s Creek Cemetery. Bro. Mark Wicker will officiate. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Eric Holmes, Derek Holmes, Lance Ellzey, Sammy Wells, Robert Amonett, Joel Amonett, Rick Amonett, and Van Wells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Durwood Baucum, Stanley Brumfield, Greg Ellzey, Justin Boyd, Steve Nixon, Kevin Brumfield, and Alex Brumfield.
