Funeral services for Billy Ray Simmons, 70, of Maurepas, LA will be held  on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Fontenot officiating. Interment will be at Rushing Cemetery.

Mr. Simmons passed away in Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, January 1, 2021. He was born June 4, 1950 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Juanita and TJ Simmons. He was also preceded in death by a son Richard Lee Simmons and a sister Kathy Pailette.

Mr. Simmons enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. He served his country by enlisting in the Marines and fighting in the Vietnam War where he received multiple medals and ribbons for his service.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Simmons; Edward John (Stephanie) Simmons, Edward Joseph Simmons, and Billy Ray Simmons Jr., brothers Sammy Jay (Mary) Simmons, Thomas Jerral Simmons, sister  Betty (Don) Fontenot 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers are Sammy Jay Simmons, Thomas Jerral Simmons, Edward John Simmons, Edward Joseph Simmons, Billy Ray Simmons Jr., and Landon Simmons.

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Chapel on Wednesday, January  6, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

Due to the present times the family requests that masks be worn inside the chapel during the visitation and service time.
