Candace Mignon
Mckennon Reagle
November 24, 1969 – June 28, 2018
Candace Mignon McKennon Reagle, 48, left her earthly body behind in Gulfport, MS, on June 28, 2018, after battling ovarian cancer for nearly three years. She was born in Hattiesburg, MS on November 24, 1969 to Mignon (Smith) and James McKennon of Brookhaven, MS.
Candace was strikingly beautiful. She turned heads everywhere she went, and many people remembered her years later after seeing her on only a single occasion. Most people wouldn't expect to win a Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest in a one-piece swimsuit, but Candace did it and later said it was part of her "strategy."
After graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1987, Candace attended Georgia Southern and later worked as a "drug dealer," selling transplant medications for a pharmaceutical company. Candace was naturally gifted as an interior designer. Furniture placement, fabric selection, lighting, textures and colors came easily to her, and she loved making things look beautiful. She could spot a "happy home" from the outside based on the lighting alone.
She was strong, confident, had well-informed opinions and was secure within herself. She embraced her ADHD because it allowed her to forgive and forget, put aside worries and anxiety, and focus on the positives in life. Happy, bubbly, sweet, beautiful, carefree, fun, loving and kind are words used by many to describe Candace. She could light up a room with her smile. She made friends easily everywhere she went. She was a self-proclaimed "problem solver" -- an essential quality since her daily life sometimes resembled an episode of "I Love Lucy." She could laugh at herself and often used self-deprecating humor. She was always respectful of everyone from every race and from every socio-economic background. She said the best compliment she ever received was from her finishing school teacher, who said she could fit in "at the White House or at a weenie roast in a trailer park."
Candace was an equal opportunity shopper and had a flair for fashion. She could walk into Wal-Mart with $20 and come out looking like a fashion model. When folks asked where she got her outfit, she would smile and say "from this little boutique near my house." She wasn't afraid to rock a feather boa, tutu or a tiara either, and not just on special occasions.
She was a wonderful, loving mother, sister and daughter. Left to treasure her memory are her sons, Royce Alexander Reagle and Bryce Jameson Reagle, both of Gulfport; her parents, Mignon and James McKennon, of Brookhaven; her brother, Michael Lee McKennon (Lydia), her niece Hannah McKennon and nephew Sam McKennon, of Montiello; her maternal grandmother, Jimmie Nell Smith Holmes, of Tylertown; and her fiancé, Todd G. Crawford, of Gulfport.
Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Homes in Tylertown, MS is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be at Tylertown Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 1 st , until service time there at 3:00 p.m.
At long last Candace can stop worrying about her heavenly list. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.
