Charles Dewitt Pigott, Jr of Braselton, GA peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on July 24,2025. He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather. He was born April 19, 1934, to Dewitt and Mildred Pigott. He married Arleen Fortenberry Pigott in 1958 and was blessed with 2 children.
Charles was a 1956 graduate of the University of Mississippi. While attending Ole Miss he was a brother of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and a member of the marching band. After getting his degree in pharmacy he returned to Tylertown to serve the community for over 50 years as owner of Pigotts Drug Store. During this time, he made many trips to the store for emergencies.
After retiring Charles and Arleen enjoyed traveling with family and working in their beautiful yard. He was a faithful member of Tylertown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and as a longstanding member of the church choir. Charles will be remembered for his strong Christian Faith, kindness, generosity, and easy smile.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Dewitt and Mildred, his wife of 64 years Arleen Pigott, his son Terry Wayne Pigott, and siblings Betty Joe Rego and Donald Moore Pigott. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Robin and William Helmstadter of Braselton, Georgia and granddaughter Madeline Helmstadter of London, England. Two sisters in law, Judy Fortenberry and Bonnie Grubbs, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Hartman Hughes Funeral Home on Sunday July 27,2025 with Brother Buddy Day presiding and Emily Jackson providing the music.Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 with service at 3PM with graveside service to follow immediately.
The Pallbearers will be Charles's nephews Donovan Grubbs, Kirk Stinson, Brodie Pigott, Ronnie Owens, Jody Fortenberry and Brad Owens.
Honorary pallbearers are Max Stinson, Neil Stinson, Jimmy Fortenberry, Michael Grubbs Jeff Pigott, Joe Rego and James Rego.
