Funeral services for Mr. Dalton Laird, 81, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Knoxo Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Ennis and Dr. Dorman Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Knoxo Cemetery.
Mr. Laird passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his residence in Tylertown, Mississippi. He was born January 28, 1936 in Bassfield, Mississippi to the late Houston Virgil and Jessie Lou Hathorn Laird. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brother Dorroh Laird, and sister Daphne Laird Levin.
He was a member of Knoxo Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Music Leader. After retiring as co-owner and operator of Laird Motor Company, Inc.; he worked at Builders Mart (now Home Hardware) until his retirement there. Mr. Laird was an outdoors person and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cattle farming. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by them.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jerry Brumfield Laird; son Mike (Janet) Laird; brothers Duel (Alma) Laird, and Dorman (Henrietta) Laird; sister-in-law Judy Laird Rawls; grandchildren Jace (Kristy) Laird, and Lani (Chess) Jackson; great-grandchildren Reggie Laird, Layla Laird, Emmie Raye Jackson, and Darlie Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5 – 8 P.M. and at Knoxo Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 9, from 10:00 A.M. until service time there at 11.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knoxo Baptist Church General Fund.
