Dan Alford, 93 of Darbun, MS passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at his residence with his wife of 68 years by his side. He was born Sunday, December 14, 1930 in Walthall County, MS to the late Arthur Alford and Margaret Martin Alford. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Travis Alford, Hulon Alford, and Thomas Alvin Alford; sisters, Mary Thornhill and Martha Ann Ladner.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM at Magee's Creek Baptist Church, 174 Darbun Rd, Jayess, MS 39641. Burial will follow in the Magee's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Michael Knippers will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dan was a proud member of the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. During his time there he served as an accountant and observed the testing of the first jet engines. He worked for Brown and Root Construction in his younger years and later as a dairy farmer in Walthall County until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Magee's Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School superintendent for many decades. He enjoyed working in his garden and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Emily Joan Alford; sons, Danny Alford (Beth), Bobby Alford, Joe Alford, and Jim Owens; grandchildren, Tristan Powell, Morgan Meyers (Andrew), Branna Owens, Barton Pickens (Heather), Ray Alford, and Lance Alford: along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be  Jim Owens, Bobby Alford, Barton Pickens, Ray Alford, Lance Alford, and Austin Thornhill.
