Dannie Kaye
Ginn Mckee
June 11, 1946 – February 15, 2024
Dannie Kaye Ginn McKee passed away in the morning of February 15, 2024 at the age of 77. She was born June 11, 1946, the youngest of two children born to LH Ginn, Jr and Xina Pearl Bearden Ginn from Dinan, Tylertown Mississippi. She graduated from Tylertown High School and attended Mississippi State University where she studied Horticulture. Later in her career, she returned to school and earned her Bachelor's degree in Business from Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL
She married her beloved husband, Royce, on a snowy day in Biloxi, MS on January 11, 1973; together they raised three sons: Bret Hubert, Curtis Ray, and Brady Ross.
Dannie spent over 25 years working in marketing with South Central Bell / BellSouth where she built a successful career and made many lasting connections. At retirement, she rose to become the Chief of Staff for BellSouth's CEO.
After retiring from BellSouth, Dannie and Royce returned to her birthplace of Tylertown where they became active members of the Dinan community. Dannie and Royce dedicated themselves to community service helping establish the local E911 notification system, starting a neighborhood watch program, and many initiatives helping to improve the capabilities of local fire and rescue departments.
Dannie's passion for lifelong learning and teaching led her to obtain her teaching certificate and start a second career as a computer and keyboarding teacher at McComb High School. Upon retiring from MHS, she continued to share her knowledge and skills through online schools teaching high school students around the globe in subjects like digital photography, macro/microeconomics, and internet webpage design.
Dannie always had a deep love for animals, and her farm, Kudzu Korner, which was home to many furry and feathered friends. She cherished her dogs, cats, and chickens, and even gave each cow and calf born on the farm a special name.
In addition to her love of animals, Dannie was a talented artist who shared her skills with others through gifts of painting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Her creativity and passion for art brought joy to all who received her handmade treasures.
Dannie's family was one of her greatest joys, cherishing many moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dannie is survived by her husband, Royce, sons and families:
Bret (Rhonda) McKee of Budapest, Hungary and children - Tori (Matt) Meece of Belton, TX (Piper, Samuel, Benjamin); Britton McKee of Austin, TX; and Seth (Sayler) McKee of Nashville, TN.
Curtis (Jeanna) McKee of Lavaca, AR and children – Eric McEntire, Alex McEntire, and Isaac McEntire all of Lavaca, AR.
Brady (Christina) McKee of Hurley, MS and children - Rachel McKee of Jackson, MS; Kailee McKee of Tylertown, MS; Maxx McKee and Zaine McKee both of Hurley, MS.
Her sister, Ione Ginn (M E "Abe") Bond of Petal, MS. Dannie and Ione were best of friends throughout their lives. Both were majorettes in the Tylertown High band, and they often twirled their batons, even their flaming batons, for their families. Both also shared a great love for their family.
Nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews will all miss their Aunt Dannie—gathering eggs, riding the golf cart, and many other adventures at Kudzu Korners and sweet moments shared during their visits.
The family would also like to thank Wayne Faust for his many years of friendship, encouragement, and service to Dannie and Kudzu Korners.
Dannie's legacy will be remembered through the countless lives she touched, the communities she served, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be celebrated and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home Tylertown, MS on Friday February 23, 2024, from 12:00 until 2:00pm with a Life Honoring Service at 2:00 pm. Graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden.
