Dorman McArthur Howell

April 7, 1942 – June 22, 2019

Funeral services for Mr. Dorman McArthur Howell, 77, of Jayess, MS will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Sartinville United Methodist Church  with the Reverend Tyler Bridge officiating. Burial will be in the Sartinville Cemetery.

Mr. Howell passed away at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Saturday, June 22, 2019. He was born April 7, 1942 in Walthall, Mississippi to the late Ruby and Walter Howell.  In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by four brothers:  Earl, Bobby, Walter, and Clayton Howell.

He was a counselor in the Brookhaven School District for about 29 years, a member of Sartinville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men's' Club; the Brookhaven Evening's Lions Club, and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.   He was an avid golfer, and a true supporter of the USM baseball team and the Southwest Mississippi Community College basketball team.  He also loved to read.

Mr. Howell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Bozeman Howell.   A daughter, Trina Tanner  Sons: Shane Howell and Dane Howell   A granddaughter, Emily Tanner, A grandson, Solomon Howell, a son-in-law, Richard Tanner, and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Howell.

Pallbearers will be:  Trey Davis, Devin Davis, Thomas Davis, Michael Street, Lynn Harvey, and Ken Ainsworth.  Honorary pallbearers will be:  Dale Anthony, Robert Speaks, and Sam Bowman.

Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM., and on Sunday, June 30 from 1 till service time at 2 P.M. at Sartinville United Methodist Church.
