Dorothy Ellen Wood Bilbo
November 11, 1933 – January 26, 2023
Dorothy passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 in Tylertown, Mississippi at the age of 89. She was the eldest of five daughters. She was a graduate of New Zion School, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She loved her New Zion Baptist Church family, but most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and unashamedly shared her faith with all she met. She loved working in her yard and having afternoon coffee with her family and friends.
She was born November 11, 1933 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Nelson and Freddie Brock Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, J. W. Bilbo, sisters Nelda Wood Johnson and Barbara Wood Laird, brothers-in-law Ben Ferguson and Marvin Johnson, and niece Tara Ferguson Moore.
She is survived by one son, Greg Nelson Bilbo and wife Susan of Tylertown, one daughter, Jan Elizabeth Husser and husband Clint of Springfield, Louisiana; grandchildren Sara Sharp and husband Andrew of Brandon, Mississippi, Adam Bilbo and wife Kaitlin of Sumrall, Mississippi, Zachary Husser and wife Marissa of Ruston, Louisiana, Beau Brock Husser and Luke Husser, both of Springfield, Louisiana; great grandchildren Walker and Avery Sharp and Baby Husser; sisters Beverly Ferguson of Brewton, Alabama and Virginia Graves and husband Paul of Tylertown, Mississippi, along with a host of nieces and nephews. We would like to also thank special friends and caregivers, Sandy, Ollie, Helen, Clint, and Connie, and the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice.
Pallbearers are Adam Bilbo, Zachary Husser, Beau Husser, Luke Husser, Andrew Sharp, Walker Sharp, and Shea Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Graves, Keith Fortinberry, and Christian Graves.
Visitation will be Friday, January 27 from 5pm to 7pm at Capps Funeral Home and Saturday January 28, from 11am until services at 12pm at New Zion Baptist Church. Burial in the Wood Cemetery with Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Gideons International.
