Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Holmes Browne, 98, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Hong Yoo officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown Cemetery.
Mrs. Browne passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at her residence in Tylertown, Mississippi. She was born December 12, 1919 in Darburn, Mississippi to the late Daniel Edwin and Elizabeth Hobbs Holmes.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Ivah Lamar Browne, Jr.; son Ivah Lamar Browne, III and an infant son; brothers Elton "Rass" Holmes, James R. Holmes, and Herman Holmes.
She was a member of Tylertown United Methodist Church, where she had been very active in the church, including teaching Sunday School. In her younger years, Mrs. Browne was also very active in various civic and community clubs and activities. She was an avid golfer and an excellent seamstress. Mrs. Browne was an Accounting Clerk retired from the Walthall County Chancery Clerk Office.
Survivors include her sons Ashley (Marilyn) Browne, and David (Tessy) Browne; brothers Joe Buel Holmes, and Douglas Holmes; sister Ann Holmes Ratliff; grandchldren Laura (Travis) Easley, Jamie Browne, Johnny Johnson, Jr., Amber Johnson, and Cortney Johnson; great-grandchildren Anna Claire Easley, and Morgan Renee Johnson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Bob Toney, Ronnie Toney, Steve Kennedy, Nathan Graves, Jimmy Graves, and Allen Blackwell.
Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. until service time there at 3:00 P.M.
