Dorothy M Fortenberry, 89 of Tylertown, MS passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. She was born Tuesday, April 18, 1933 in McComb, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, Mississippi. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 2:15 PM at Oral Cemetery in Tylertown, Mississippi.  Rev. Everett Broom will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The best mother-in-law; always loving and there with a helping hand. Spending time with her family was her greatest blessing. She was a faithful and active member of Oral Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Dorothy was a great southern cook and enjoyed teaching her family how to cook. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Fortenberry; daughter Debra Francis; two infant children; father James Clarence Higginbotham; mother Lillie Bell Neely Higginbotham; brother James Higginbotham; sisters Ruby Kelly and Verena Barr.

Survivors include her son Jeff Fortenberry (Darlene); grandchildren Shanda Fortenberry (Angie), Mike Fortenberry (Mariette), Tesa Payne, Jon Pigott (Sarah), and Amy Balderas (Joseph); great grandchildren Harley Payne, Kylin Payne, Devin Pigott, Austin Pigott, and Mason Pigott:  sisters Jeanetta "Pete" Williams and Peggy Holmes; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loving church family.

Pallbearers will be Jon Pigott, Mike Fortenberry, Harley Payne, Devin Pigott, Austin Pigott, and Mason Pigott .
