Funeral services for Earl Thomas, 88, of Tylertown, MS will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Penton officiating. Burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery at Dexter.
Mr. Thomas passed away at Diversicare in Tylertown, Mississippi on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. He was born July 12, 1933 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Lemmie and Edna Thomas. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Glenda Thomas; son William Earl "Tweet" Thomas; brothers Clyde Thomas, Carlos Thomas, and Alton Thomas; sisters Evelyn Thomas, Lovie Dillon, Wessie Brown, Lois Gardner, Hazel Moore, and Wilda Corbin.
Earl Thomas was an extremely hard worker that accomplished a lot in his life with his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Glenda Thomas, by his side. Together they worked hard and had two successful businesses. First was a dairy farm they operated for many years with their son, William Earl 'Tweet" Thomas. Then they owned and operated Thomas' Fish House in Bogalusa, LA. They truly enjoyed life together. When Mr. Earl was in his eighty's he would ride his bicycle around in the Dexter community. Mr. Earl was dedicated member of Dexter Centerville Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his heavenly father and was proud to be a Christian. Mr. Earl was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory with miss him dearly.
Survivors include granddaughter Lauren Thomas; daughter-in-law Lisa Magee; nephew Mickey (Ruth Anna) McDaniel; great-grandson Keaton Bass; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
A special thank you to Buddy Arickson (room mate at Diversicare) who helped Mr. Earl transition to a new way of life and nephew, Mickey McDaniel, who did so much for Mr. Earl over the last few years.
Pallbearers are Jr Wascom, Skipper Creel, Darrell Dillon, Dave Wascom, Rodney Wood, and Bruce Stogner.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Kennedy, Jeffery Ellis, Larry Jarrell, and Mike McDaniel.
Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 2:00 PM.
