Elmer Junior Morris, 85 years old of Amite, La passed to his heavenly home August 12, 2024 at his residence. He was born on July 2, 1939, to the late Elmer Gibson Morris and Ruby Breeland Morris in Tylertown, MS.

Elmer Jr. served in the United States Navy based in San Diego, Ca from 1957 to 1962.  After the navy, He worked at Cox Brothers in Baton Rouge for 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Amite, La. where he worked as the custodian for 28 years serving the Lord, congregation, staff, and anyone else that came through the doors.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Martelita Morris; daughter, Michelle Morris Cutrer and husband Kevin Cutrer; son, Michael Morris and wife Lana Moak Morris; daughter, Melinda Morris Lowery and husband John Lowery; grandchildren, Logan Cutrer, Elizabeth Morris, Ethan Morris, Seth Cutrer, and Jase Lowery; sisters, Ruby Nell Cox, Rosa Lee Dixon, Flora Lee Montgomery; brother, Walter Morris: sisters-in-law Trenee Truex and Mary Ross; brother-in-law Terry Ross.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tommy John Morris and Burley Morris; sister, Mary Nell Leet; brother in laws, Charles Dixon, Charles Montgomery, Wayne Cox, and Thomas Truex.

Pallbearers will be Michael Morris, John Lowery, Stevie Stepp, Alfred Graves, Kevin Cutrer, and Lee Carmona. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Morris, Jase Lowery, and Seth Cutrer.

The family would like to thank Foundations Hospice for all their tender loving care to Elmer over the past months.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church Amite, LA on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until the funeral service at 11:00 A.M.  Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Tylertown, MS.  Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
