Mrs. Ethel Arie Graves Brown, 98, a lifetime resident of Tylertown, MS, passed away Friday, April 01, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born Tuesday, July 17, 1923 in Walthall County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 03, 2022 from 12:30 PM until service at 2:30 PM at Capps Funeral Home, 270 Old Hwy 98 E, Tylertown, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Garden. Reverend Millard Moak and Reverend Ron Jordan will officiate. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brown was a faithful and devoted member of Union Baptist Church for more than 67 years. She worked at Haspels for over 30 years and then Mae's Fashion until her retirement. She was very active and enjoyed numerous hobbies such as reading, crocheting, fishing, gardening, working in her yard, tending her roses, and riding 4-wheelers with her grandchildren as of a few months ago. For many years, Mrs. Ethel loved walking 3 miles a day. She proudly drove her "little red" car till the age of 95. Mrs. Brown will be deeply missed by her family, but they will always be reminded of her saying "It's a beautiful day."
She was preceded in death by her parents John Otha Graves and Myrtis Lee Graves Simmons; stepfather Milton Leslie Simmons; beloved husband Harvey Brown; siblings Ina Mae Graves Holmes, Helen Simmons Evans, Elvin Graves, Melvin Graves, Ray Graves, Wyman Graves and Ralph Simmons; sons-in-law Glynn Grubbs and Norman Goleman.
Survivors include her son Jimmy Brown; daughters Sue Grubbs and Debbie Goleman; grandchildren Shanda Ratliff (Robert), Jill Van Dan (Raymond), Angie Toney (Jack), Nicole MacNeil (Danny), Kelly Bishop (Jon), Brandi Posey (Barry), Kevin Goleman (Yuko); 17 great- grandchildren; 5 and soon to be 6 great- great grandchildren. She would always say how greatly blessed she was by her many nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family. She will be sincerely missed by all.
It's not goodbye forever but goodbye for now because one beautiful day we will see you again.
Pallbearers will be Clint Ratliff, Trevor Ratliff, Aaron Van Dan, Robert Ratliff, Raymond Van Dan, and Aaron Rushing.
