Gary Zane Wood, 75 of Tylertown, Mississippi passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and daughters by his side on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He was born Tuesday, September 23, 1947 in Tylertown, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home at 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, Mississippi. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Tylertown, Mississippi. Burial will follow in the Wood Cemetery. Rev Jerry Wayne Dillon and Rev Landon Lambert will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wood was a member of Calvary Baptist Church; was a Vietnam Veteran and served  in the Army infantry; and a member of the Tylertown American Legion Post 2001. He worked for Exxon Pipeline for 36 years.  Mr. Gary was best known as "Snake" by family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand; no problem was too big or small. Snake never met a stranger and loved making people laugh. He gave everyone he knew a nickname. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, cooking, and listening to music. His true passion in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Gary will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Lieutillous Elonzo Wood; and mother Gloria Gertrude Duprat Wood.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Jo Ann Sandifer Wood; daughters Tracy Wood Comeaux (David) and Casey Renee Wood; grandchildren William Noah Comeaux, Kathryn Denny Comeaux, and Dylan Leighann Clark; brother Danny Wood (Linda); sisters Judy Holmes (John Ray), Karen Thomas (Ted), and Deborah Helton (Buddy); K-9 companion Wilson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Steve Dickey, Darryl Hote, Dan Landess, Rodney Wood, Noah Comeaux, and Matthew Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cook and C J Bergeron.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in honor of Mr. Gary  to Calvary Baptist Church 377 Kirkland Rd Tylertown, MS 39667.
