George Edwin Alford

September 18, 1937 – October 17, 2025

George Edwin Alford, 88 of Tylertown, MS passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at the home of his grandson Chase and Kayla Copeland. He was born Saturday, September 18, 1937 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Alvin J and Ruth Wyatt Alford. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Peggy Brown Alford.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie) in Tylertown, MS. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery at Lexie with Bro. Mike Anderson officiating. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. George was a longtime member of Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie), the Tylertown Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner. He enjoyed farming, checking on the cows, and his greatest love; spending time with his grandchildren. He believed in giving to charities such as St. Jude Children's research, the Wounded Warriors Project, and to help the missionaries around the world. He also made numerous trips doing missionary work in Honduras, Nicaragua, and a few other countries.

Survivors include his son, Alvin Alford;  daughter, Jennifer Alford Copeland;  grandchildren, Kevin  Copeland (Simmons) and Chase Copeland (Kayla);  great grandchildren, Callie Brock, Elijah Copeland, Colston Copeland, Adelyn Copeland, Audrey Copeland, Cayson Copeland and Aubrey Smith; along with a host of loving family.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Copeland, Roger Ginn, Mark Brock, Hugh Brown, Ben Sayes, and Josh Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Morris, Wyatt Gautreau, and Colston Copeland.

Special music will be performed by Wanda Russell .
