Gwendolyn Wood, 72, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia, MS. She was born Friday, March 27, 1953 in Tylertown, MS to the late Marvin "Dodge" Edward Wood and Vera Ellen Thompson Wood. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Winston Dudley Wood; brothers, Ray Thompson, Easley Wood, Everett Wood, and JW Wood; sisters, Ann Sumrall and Shirley Stinson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 9:30 AM until funeral service at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 377 Kirklin Road, Tylertown, MS with Brother Landon and Reverend Joe Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Cemetery. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gwen loved her nursing career. She loved taking care of her patients and making friends for life.

Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Boone (Jason) and Janna Shepherd (Jacob); grandchildren, Jacob Boone (Shelby), Josh Boone (Morgyn), Jackson Shepherd, Kholie Shepherd, Kruise Shepherd, and Adalyn Shepherd; brother-in-law, David Wood (Anita); sisters-in-law, Penny Wood and Francis Thompson; special friend, Renee Guy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Pallbearers will be Danny Wood, Darryl Hote, Casey Wood, Jeff Stringer, Wade Guy, Daniel Wood, and Ralph Stinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Chester Dillon.
