Howard Don Boyd, 83 of Jayess, MS passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Boyd had been a resident at Collins Veteran's Home for the past 18 months. He was born Saturday, July 22, 1939 in Walthall County (Enon community), Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church in Jayess, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery in Jayess, Mississippi. Brother David Hedden will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boyd was a member of Enon Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Enon Masonic Lodge where he held a Master's Degree. He was superintendent at Great American Wirebound Box Company for 46years until his retirement. Mr. Boyd was also proud to be an Army National Guard Veteran. Mr. Boyd had many talents which included being an Electrician and a noted horse trainer. Mr. Boyd loved to hunt and be in nature, but his true passion in life was spending time with his family. Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his daughter Donnie Boyd Edwards; father James Prentiss Boyd; mother Janie Wallace Boyd; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years Mae Boyd; daughter Dr. Carolyn Boyd Pillai (Dr. Ajit) and their children Dr. Ian Pillai (Ashley), Colin Pillai (Sierra). Mr. Boyd also is survived by his grandchildren; Lindsey Arnold (Ben) with their children Michael and Lila; Natalie Wallace (Dr. Rob) and their child Robbie; and Katy Edwards; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Tommy Boyd, Mickey Boyd, Terry Boyd, Ronnie Holmes; Calvin McEwen and Milton Dunaway. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School Class.
