Funeral services for Hubert Daniel Wood, 82, of Franklinton, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at New Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Duane Ball and Reverend James Thornhill officiating. Burial will be in the New Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Wood passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 24, 2021. He was born July 11, 1939 in Thomas, Louisiana to the late Freddie and Mable Wood. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his sisters Rosa Rennett Graham, Edna Earl Wood Landry, and infant Carolina Elizabeth Wood.

Mr. Hubert was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church. There he served as president of Brotherhood and Chairman of the Deacons. He was proud to be a veteran of the United States Army and the Military Police. For 38 years he was a lineman and right of way supervisor for Magnolia Electric Power Association. Even after his retirement he returned to the field to help with the line damage during Hurricane Katrina. But the most important thing in his life was his family. He always reminded them to love and take care of one another. Mr. Wood's love and compassion will be missed by many.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years Carol Sue Wood; children Tricia Wood (Lane) Thomas, Richard Brant (Tami) Knight, Tyrone (Rhonda) Knight, Daniel Wood, and Aaron (Lana) Wood; grandchildren Gage Knight, Andrew (Danielle) Wood, Logan Wood, Christian Wood, Tristin Thomas, Mallory Knight Watts, Morgan (Kevin) Hill, Marissa Knight, Summer (Chevis) Corkern, Taylor (Jared) Rome, and Lakin (Dylan Savarese) Wood;  great grandchildren Hadley Watts, Ayden Wood, Noah Wood, Mason Wood, Beau Hill, and August Corkern; sister  Shirley Magee; brother James Wood; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers are Gage Knight, Andrew Wood, Logan Wood, Christian Wood, Tristin Thomas, and Michael Deluca.

Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of New Zion Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at New Zion Baptist Church on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday December 28, 2021 from 9:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM.
