James Edward Schmidt, III, 84 of Tylertown, MS passed away Friday, July 22, 2022. He was born February 24, 1938 in Washington, DC.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 8:00 AM until service at 10:00 AM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS. Burial will follow in Tylertown Cemetery II in Tylertown, MS. Reverend Justin Knight will officiate. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schmidt grew up in New Orleans, LA. In high school he met the love of his life, Imogene Goldston Schmidt. They shared 68 wonderful years together.

James spent most of his career as a dedicated employee of the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company until retirement.

James was a devoted family man that loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and dogs. Mr. Schmidt enjoyed LSU and New Orleans Saints Football, traveling, camping, and canoeing. He was a faithful and very involved member of Tylertown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father James Edward Schmidt Jr.; mother Eunice Steppe Schmidt.

Survivors include his wife Imogene Goldston Schmidt of Tylertown, MS; sons James Edward Schmidt IV (Kimberly) and Mark Steven Schmidt (Michon); sister Carol Gonzales; grandson Preston Schmidt; granddaughters Nacole Nurdin Diaz (Byron), Amanda Schmidt Seal (Joseph), Samantha Schmidt Poole (Donovan) and Eloise Schmidt; great grandsons Alex Diaz and Lane Seal; great granddaughters Alexis Diaz, Amelia Poole, Emma Seal and Julia Poole; along with a host of friends and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Gonzales, Gene Strain, Joseph Seal, Byron Diaz, Clint Perkins, Preston Schmidt, and Alex Diaz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donovan Poole, Tommy Elwell, and Sam Shuster.
