Jane "Ellen" Graves passed away at Merit Wesley Hospital on May 30, 2022. She was born November 7, 1929 to the late James Taylor Holmes and Nettie Johnson Holmes. She was the beloved wife of the late Linwood Graves. She was the loving mother of Mary Beverly (Larry), Jimmy Graves (Sheila), and Julie Hammon (Norman). She was the proud grandmother of Jason Logan (Mary), Kevin Logan (Anita), Stephen Graves, Ryan Graves (Jenny), Amanda Guillotte (Troy), Keith Hammon (Adrian), and Channon Ash (Kurt), and the great-grandmother of William "Billy" and Ryan Logan, Sean, Katy and Will Logan, Adalin Graves, Olivia Guillotte, Mason and Hunter Hammon, and Billy and Dylan Carmouche.
She was preceded in death by her husband Linwood Graves, her parents James and Nettie Holmes, brothers James "Carey" Holmes and Willie T. Holmes, and sisters Marie Nettles and Irene Holmes. She is survived by her sister Julia Pittman.
Ellen was a lifetime resident of Walthall County where she was a homemaker and partner to her husband on their Dairy Farm for over 45 years. She loved the outdoors and could often be seen admiring and tending her flowers and even kept up a vegetable garden until the last few years of her life. Ellen loved cooking and baking for her family who always fought to claim the last piece of her delicious chocolate pie. She was a member of Tylertown United Methodist Church. Ellen loved her family fiercely and enjoyed any occasion she got to be with them; her family will miss her immeasurably.
Services for Mrs. Ellen will be held at Tylertown United Methodist Church on Friday, June 3, 2022 with visitation starting at 9:00 AM 9:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Knoxo Cemetery. Rev. Hong Yoo will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Tylertown United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jason Logan, Kevin Logan, Stephen Graves, Ryan Graves, Keith Hammon, and Troy Guillotte.
