Jeanette Dillon October 27, 1933 – September 2, 2026 Jeanette Dillon, born October 27, 1933, to the late J.B. Ward and Margie Dragg Ward Dykes. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her devoted father of the heart Rev. Roy Dykes.; brothers Donald Dykes; and sister Katherine Talley. She is survived by brothers Roy E Dykes and Rev. M.L. Dykes; and sisters Mary Ann Robertson and Virginia Dale Talley. Mrs. Dillon will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, cherished mother and grandmother, faithful Christian, and beloved servant to her family, church, and community. 

Jeanette shared 74 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Preston Dillon, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, love, and unwavering commitment to one another. Their love and devotion created a lasting foundation that continues through the generations of their family. 

Jeanette was the loving mother of four children: Jerry Wayne Dillon (Sandra), Linda Dillon Moak (Russell), Betty Jo Dillon Keen (Garland), and Peggy Dillon Hilburn; and son of the heart Darryl Hote; and countless others she called family. 

Her legacy continued through her grandchildren: Jason Dillon (Christine), Jeffrey Dillon, January Rushing, Amanda Michel (Michael), Julie Gibson (Jeff), Janet Keen, and LeAnna Dillon (Jason). 

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her heart: Jared Dillon (Adison), Mark Anthony Dillon, Caden Michel, Justin Gibson (Mandie), Janna Rushing, Jinger Gibson, Kenadie Michel, Christiana Dillon, Rose Dillon, and Preslee Dillon. 

Jeanette devoted 43 years of her life to serving others at Walthall County General Hospital. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to her profession earned the respect of those who worked alongside her. Her leadership was recognized when she was elected to serve three terms as president of the Mississippi Dietary Association. This accomplishment was a testament to her hard work, character, and the esteem in which she was held by her colleagues. 

Jeanette also loved her community and was proud to be a part of Walthall County. If you ever attended the Walthall County Dairy Festival, you may remember seeing Jeanette taking part in the Butter Churning Contest. It was just one of the many ways she enjoyed being involved in her community and sharing in the traditions she loved.

 Music and ministry held a special place in Jeanette’s heart. For many years, she used her beautiful voice to serve the Lord, singing alongside Mike Davis, Freddie Mae Barber, and Billy Ray Graves at churches throughout the area, as well as at their home church, Stateline United Pentecostal Church. Through her singing, Jeanette shared her faith, encouraged those around her, and sought to bring glory to God. Her voice was more than music—it was a reflection of the faith that was so deeply woven into her life.

 Above all, Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was one of the greatest blessings of her life, and the love she poured into them will never be forgotten. She taught through her actions, loved through every season of life, and left behind a legacy of faith, strength, devotion, and unconditional love. 

Jeanette’s life was a testimony to the goodness of God and the importance of loving others. She touched countless lives through her family, her work, her church, her music, and her service to her community. The seeds of love and faith she planted throughout her lifetime will continue to grow in the generations who follow her. Though her family and friends will deeply miss her, they can find comfort in knowing that her earthly journey is complete and that the testimony of her life will live on. Her song on earth may have ended, but the message she shared through her life will continue to be heard in the hearts of those she loved.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Stateline United Pentecostal Church. A time of visitation and remembrance will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service begins.
