Jeanne "Mean Jean" Barclay

December 29, 1925 – January 24, 2019

Funeral services for Jeanne Barclay, 93, of McComb, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Silver Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barclay passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 24, 2019. She was born December 29, 1925 in Belgium to the late Arille and Arilla Pichry. She was also preceded in death by her husband James A. Barclay; daughters Betty Rowell and Arlette McEwen; and stepson James Barclay Jr.

Survivors include her granddaughter: Valarie Berry; Grandsons: Craig (Stephanie) Rowell and Jamey Rowell; great-grandsons: Conner Berry, Brandon Berry, Brett (Bethany) Rowell, and Blake (Kaley) Rowell; great-great-granddaughter Jacklynn Berry and son-in-law Aubrey Rowell.

Born and reared in Belgium she found herself living through World War II where she met her husband who was serving in the military at the time. The chain on his tank had broken off in front of her house and her family housed the soldiers for the night. When the war was over he came back to Belgium to find her and bring her to the United States where they married and started their life. She enjoyed telling stories about her life and all the things that she had gone through. She loved her dogs, family, eating seafood, and spending time riding the tractor.

Pallbearers are Conner Berry, Collin Burnette, Brett Rowell, Blake Rowell, Brandon Berry, and Bobby Nations.

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
