Jerry Fleet Barnes, 85 of Tylertown, MS passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Sunday, May 15, 1938 in Walthall County, MS.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie) in Tylertown, MS. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM at Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie). Burial will follow in the Centerville Church Cemetery. Reverend Mike Anderson and Reverend Tom Burris will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barnes was a longtime member of Centerville Baptist Church in Lexie, MS. and was a man of many talents. He worked at the nuclear power plant in Port Gibson, MS for 15 years, owned Barnes Kwick Stop, and was a well-known butcher for his business Barnes Meat Plant. After his retirement he found his true passion in life which was raising cattle and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves behind so many memories to be cherished by his family.
He was preceded in death by his father Fleet Barnes; mother Era Dillon Barnes; and sister Sarah Jean Smith.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years Norma Jean Boyd Barnes; son Randall Jerry Barnes (Regina Hayes); daughter Lisa Annette Polk (Tonie); grandchildren Clint Polk, Deanne Minarik, Amanda Jellison, Angelia Murphy, Brandon Polk, Amber Breland and Sandra Barnes; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Price Barnes (Peggy); along with a host of loving friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Clint Polk, Brandon Polk, Drew Polk, Garreth Murphy, Brandon Minarik, and Cody Breland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jewel Holmes, Buck Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Greg Smith, Keith Brock, Bubba Lang, Ralph Stinson, Doug Grammer, and Tonie Polk.
