Joan Cantrell Rushing, 79, of Tylertown, MS passed away on September 29, 2026, in McComb, MS. She was born May 03, 1947, to the late Russell Gaillard and Lela Hall Gaillard. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Doug Rushing and Billy Joe Cantrell; sister, Sue Thumond; brother Jimmy Gaillard; and son-in-law, Cody Edwards.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Joe Cantrell (LeAnne), Leslie Corry (Paul), and Jacob Cantrell (Kim); grandchildren, Cole Cantrell, Ethan Edwards, Jackson Cantrell, Elia Cantrell, and Eli Cantrell; sisters, Reba Benson and Betty Alford; brother, Russell Gaillard; best friends, Cary Harvey and Charlynn Harvey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

For 33 years, Mrs. Rushing proudly owned Tylertown Wear Parts in Walthall County, Mississippi. She was a woman who lived life and cherished every opportunity to make memories with those she loved. Mrs. Joan enjoyed traveling and seeing the world and fishing at her camp along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was a devoted animal lover and was known for hosting wonderful parties. Her love for family and friends and zest for life will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Church on Beulah, 902 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS 39667, at 12 noon until funeral service at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Tylertown Cemetery. Brother Bobby Thornhill will officiate. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
