Funeral services for Mr. John Warren Kirkpatrick, 70, formerly of Tylertown, Mississippi will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at First Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs with Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5 P.M. until service there at 7 P.M.
Graveside services will be at the Tylertown Cemetery, Tylertown, Mississippi at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23, 2018.
Mr. Kirkpatrick passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at his residence in the Shadowbrook Community in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born July 4, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Hubie Cornelius and Anne Mae Lowder Kirkpatrick. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Kirkpatrick.
John was a graduate of Tylertown High School and Southwest MS Communitiy College. He then graduated from LSU with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He retired from DSM Copolymer in 2006. He was an active member and usher at the First Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs and a former member of Stevendale Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and deacon. John enjoyed church activities; his hobby was fishing, and he and Judy enjoyed traveling with friends. John was loved by many and we were all blessed to have him in our lives. He leaves us with many cherished memories. We will love and miss him always.
He is survived by his wife Judy Hill Kirkpatrick of Baton Rouge; sons Brian Kirkpatrick of Aspen, Colorado, and David Kirkpatrick of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law Bonnie Boyd Kirkpatrick; nephew Scott and Danica Kirkpatrick and children Blaine, Jace, and Ariel all of Tylertown. He was Poppa to Crissy and Colby Meche, Carley and Collins of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Lisa and Gary Nastasi, Briley and Brooks of Bogalusa. He also leaves a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Scott Kirkpatrick, Mike Siegel, Mike McCardle, Mike Frady, Carter Pourciau, and Stephen Lassard.
The family is grateful to our friends, church family, and Shadowbrook neighbors for your love, support, and prayers during John's illness. We also wish to extend a special thanks to Dr. Deborah Abernathy, Dr. Sevin Yadlapati, Janan, Lilly, Dr. Henry Patrick and their caring staff; the staff of Mary Bird Perkins; and the staff of Bridgeway Healthcare and Hospice. You were all angels on our journey.
