Johnny Michael Holmes

December 5, 1943 – February 17, 2025

Johnny Michael Holmes, Sr., 81 passed away Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born Sunday, December 5, 1943 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Howard Holmes and Etha Barnes. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Holmes, daughter, Kim Hall; and brothers, Randolph Holmes and Altus Holmes.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Holmes Family Cemetery in Osyka, MS. Bro. Brock Burch will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holmes was a simple man that enjoyed sitting on his front porch while visiting with the neighbors or whoever wanted to stop by while listening to WTYL, working in his flower beds and in his yard, and giving a helping hand whenever he could. But most important was spending time with his family and keeping up with what they had going on.

Survivors include his sons, Johnny M Holmes, Jr. (Leeann) and Joey M Holmes (Kimberly);  daughters, Tammy Bourgeois, Pam Stephan (Larry);  grandchildren, Eric Holmes (Courtney), Aaron Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Ashton Holmes, Anna Grace Holmes, Casey Watson (Will), Cassidy King (Jacob) and Hannah Turner (Jeremy);  sister, Cheryl Elam (Harmon); 10 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Eric Holmes, Aaron Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Ashton Holmes, Lance Elam, and Randy Holmes. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Watson, Jacob King, Jeremy Turner, and Larry Stephan.
