Graveside services for Mrs. Joy Shepherd, 61, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 with Reverend Justin Knight officiating.  Burial will be in the Tylertown II Cemetery.

Mrs. Shepherd passed away at her residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Saturday, April 28, 2018.  She was born May 2, 1956 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Ada Thornhill Reid and the late Harry Mitchell.   In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a baby brother, Christopher.

She was of the Methodist faith, had worked as a bookkeeper for many years, and wrote poetry.  Joy was very witty and loved jokes.  She enjoyed fishing, eating seafood, and playing poker.  She loved her animals and family and will be deeply missed by them.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 29 years Jim Shepherd; son Rusty Shepherd, daughters Holly Huckabay, and Laura (Steven) Smith; brother Bud (Heather) Mitchell; sisters Amy (Tommy) Barrett, and Sue (John) Hatcher; mother-in-law Margaret Bonner; brother-in-law Tommy (Pam) Shepherd; sister-in-law Rena (Mark) Conerly; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
