Joyce Rushing Odom

Funeral services for Joyce Rushing Odom, 92, of Tylertown, Mississippi will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder P.J. Walters Jr. and Elder Ricky Myers officiating. Burial will be at the Tylertown Cemetery.

Mrs. Odom passed away at her residence on Monday, October 7, 2019. She was born November 20, 1926 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Lessie and Herman Rushing. She is also preceded in death by her husband Luther Rudolph Odom Sr.; son Blane Odom; sister Sarah Rushing Ware Sager; brothers Herman J. Rushing Jr., Rufus Ralph Rushing, Paul Rushing, Roy Smith Rushing, James L. Rushing, William "Bill" Rushing, Jerry E. Rushing Sr., and Willie Elisha Rushing.

Mrs. Odom was a lifelong member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed having garage sales, looking at pictures of family and friends on facebook and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Pell (Ron) Wheless, son Luther Rudolph "Rudy"  (Cecelia) Odom Jr.; grandchildren Luther S. Wheless, Ashley (Blaine) Rabalais, Ronnie S (Susan) Wheless Jr.,  Luther Rudolph Odom III, Gregory Blane (Cassie) Wheless, John Walter (Kaffy)  Wheless, Rebecca Lynn Spencer, and Chantel Marie (Rob) Stevens; great-grandchildren Phoenix Joyce Wheless,  Ava Toni Wheless, Gregory Blane Wheless Jr., Tyce Anthony Rabalais, Ainsley Claire Rabalais, and  Luther Rudolph Odom IV,  sisters Lessie Rawls, Beth Morrow, and Maureen Spence, and brother Donald Rushing. Along with a host of nephews, nieces, friends and loving family.

Pallbearers are Luke Wheless, Ronnie Wheless Jr., Luther Odom III, Greg Wheless Sr, Blaine Rabalais, and John Wheless .

Honorary Pallbearers are Allen Spence, Scott Morrow, Eric Morrow, Robert Jenkins, and Stacey Crawford.

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Chapel on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church on Hwy. 98 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10: AM.
