Due to the weather: Funeral services for Miss Allie Holmes, 93, will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. Elders Ricky and Mickey Myers will officiate. Burial will be in the Rushing Cemetery.
Miss Holmes passed away at her residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. She was born October 8, 1924 in Tylertown to the late Benjamin Cullen and Lizzie Johnson Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers and their spouses Elijah and Mable Holmes, Cayce and Ruth Holmes, Newton and Eula Holmes, and Cagie and Myrtle Holmes.
She was a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Lexie and had been a seamstress with Haspel's. Miss Allie loved her church and supported it faithfully. She was always ready to help in the community when she was needed. She was very independent and took care of all her own needs. She loved working outside, especially with her flowers. Miss Allie was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Miss Holmes is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Holmes, Jr., Bobby Smith, Tanner O'Quin, Glynn Broom, Lonnie Broom, and Jeremy Sanford.
Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5 till 8 P.M.
