Lacy Iva O'Quinn Stewart
January 23, 1934 – August 7, 2024
Lacy Iva O'Quinn Stewart, 90, died at 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Ridgeland, Mississippi, where she lived for the past two years to be near her daughters.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m., and the funeral service at 11 a.m, Saturday, August 17 at Mesa Baptist Church, 12 Mesa Walkers Bridge Road, Tylertown, Mississippi. Internment will follow at Rushing Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years Leslie Doye Stewart and their granddaughter Blair Inez Scianna. The youngest of eight children, Mrs. Stewart also was preceded in death by her siblings, Harry Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Bill Johnson, Georgia Haag, Ed O'Quinn, Mary Lou Johnson and Sammie O'Quinn.
She is survived by her children, Virgi Stewart Lindsay (Chuck) of Jackson, Vicki Stewart Scianna (Kenny) of Flora, and Edwin Stewart (Robin) of Smithdale; grandchildren Shawn Scianna of San Antonio, Texas; Chaz Lindsay, and Mary-Michael Lindsay Garrison (Coyt) of Jackson and sister-in-law Jean Holmes (Frank) of Tylertown.
Surviving nieces and nephews are Ronald Haag, Elizabeth Haag Asaff, Sandra Johnson Dugan, Sarah Lou Johnson, Mark Johnson, Sammie Lou O'Quinn, Angela Stewart Anderson, Keith Stewart, Mike Holmes and Mark Holmes, along with a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Officiating are Mesa Pastor Clay Spinks and former Mesa Pastor Matt Robinson. Pianist Debbie Ivy will provide the music.
Mrs. Stewart lived in Walthall County, or as she called it, "God's Country" for most of her life. Her years away were spent in Picayune while her husband worked at the NASA Test Site and for her brief time in Ridgeland.
She notably raised three lively children and worked at the Tylertown Doctors Clinic for many years. She was a ready volunteer for her children's activities and was active in her Baptist churches in both Tylertown and Picayune.
Mrs. Stewart will be remembered by many as the first to show up with food when there was a crisis, problem, or a need. "If you can't fix it, feed it," was her philosophy.
Her grandchildren were well instructed through her teaching of proper table setting, house cleaning and bed making. Until a few weeks before her death, she was tightly making her bed first thing each morning. Although she had mostly lost her eyesight, she could spot a spec of dirt 20 feet away. Living a well-ordered life was a beautiful life, in her opinion, and she strived to instill that premise in her children and grandchildren, usually with frustrating results.
Mrs. Stewart faced her declining health with spit-fire humor and grit. It's an example her family will cherish.
Pallbearers are Shawn Scianna, Chaz Lindsay, Coyt Garrison, Mike Holmes, Mark Holmes and Dewayne Temple. Honorary pallbearers are Edwin Stewart, Kenny Scianna, Chuck Lindsay, Mark Johnson, Frank Holmes, Chris Barrett and Joe Larimore.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at Ridgeland Place for the love, care and support they gave to Mrs. Stewart over the past two years.
