LeRoy “Butch” Atchison, Jr., 72, of Tylertown, MS passed away on July 23, 2026, in Marrero, LA. He was born on December 12, 1953, to the late LeRoy Atchin, Sr. and Bonnie Jean Cook Atchison. Left to cherish his memory are siblings,William Floyd (Skip) Atchison (Glenae); Bonnie Callender; Mary McCoy (John), and Martha Atchison; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and loving family.

For 42 years Butch was a beloved tugboat captain that inspirited many of his employees with his patience and kind heart. Butch always found that telling a funny joke was good medicine for the soul. In his younger years when he wasn’t working, he had a passion for cooking and baking. He also enjoyed photography, listening to a variety of music, and growing beautiful flowers. But his greatest achievement was his relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that was evident in his daily life.

Visitation will be held at the Church On Beulah, 902 Ball Ave., Tylertown, MS 39667, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Tylertown Cemetery. Brother William “Skip” Atchison will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
