Louis Edward Brodie

Louis Edward Brodie, 92 of Poplarville, MS passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was born Tuesday, March 14, 1933, in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Morris Leland Brodie and Bennie Mae Williamson Brodie.

Mr. Brodie began his career as Hospital Administrator in Metairie, LA, at Lakeside Hospital, then moved to work as Hospital Administrator, in Saudi Arabia. He came back to the United States, to Poplarville, MS, with a dream of creating his farm, Horse Stomp Ranch, which is where he has loved life for the last 30 years. He always enjoyed adventure, evidenced by his many trips around the world, and living on his boat sailing for 3 years. He loved being outdoors, running, windsurfing, biking, skiing, as well as working on the farm. Anything he attempted, he gave 110%. He never turned down an opportunity to play the piano. He touched many lives playing hymns on the piano, anywhere he went.

Survivors include his sons, Steve M. Brodie and Bert A. Brodie (Laura) and daughters Cynthia "Cindy" B. Shawl (Eric) and Ava B. Craig (Paul); Grand-children Michael "Mike" Walsh (Elizabeth), Jesse Shawl, Megan Shawl (Tyler), Jacob Craig (Maura) and Adam Craig; great grandchildren Autumn Walsh, Piper Walsh, and Brodie Walsh, and one more on the way; step grandchild Mason Craig; local survivors are cousins, Janice Brock and Joe Stinson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends from all over the world and loving family.

Visitation will be held at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave. Tylertown, MS on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 10:30 AM until funeral service at 11:30 AM with burial following at Topisaw Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruth, MS. Rev. Billy Smith will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
