Special reflections on Mrs. Kennedy's life from her granddaughter Jamie Childress.
"My grandma has passed away. She lived to be 97 years young. She was a God-fearing woman and I know, without a doubt, my grandma prayed for all of us dear to her every night before she went to bed. She was, hands down, the best cook. I know a lot of people say that about their grandmas, but mine really was. She ate Raisin Bran every morning and always made sure she was home to watch her story. She helped raise a lot of us and I know we gave her fits sometimes, but she still loved us just the same. She made sure we all said the blessing before any meal with her and dressed to the 9s when we'd all go to church. She taught us that kindness adds and multiplies when you divide it with others. She'd drink her coffee with biscuits dipped in. She always had a bite of something sweet after dinner. She was so proud of her family and had pictures displayed all over her living room. She was at church every time the doors opened and always brought the best chicken and dumplings to whatever gathering she attended. She gave really good hugs and always bragged my grandpa never left the house without getting his sugar. She was a true lady through and through and I'm proud to say she was my grandmother.
Alzheimers disease deprived her of much living the last 15 years of her life unfortunately, but all of us "kids" know she still loved us however she was able. I will miss her as I have missed her the past years, but I know she is having the most wonderful homecoming right now with my grandpa, my uncles, her siblings, her parents, and all the others she has missed during her earthly life. I look forward to seeing her again one day when she will greet me as if she had never forgotten. I know she will continue to cover us with her prayers until we meet again."
