Mack Leslie Breeland, 62, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at home. Mack was born February 23, 1964 in Phenix City, Alabama, to General G. Breeland and Joana Brock Breeland. He grew up in Mississippi, graduating from Pearl River High School in 1982. Mack then attended Mississippi State University and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1986, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He later earned an MBA from Barry University.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave, Tylertown, MS 39667 from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM with Dr. Mike Barnett officiating. Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mack was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and 7 months. He was stationed at the following air force bases (AFB): Chanute AFB, Illinois; Homestead AFB, Florida; Eielson AFB, Alaska; Langley AFB, Virginia; Osan AFB, South Korea; Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; the Pentagon, Virginia; Shepard AFB, Texas; and Keesler AFB, Mississippi. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and was highly decorated during his service.
Upon retirement he rejoined the workforce as an Industrial Engineer at Huntington-Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a vital member of the IG team until he retired for good in 2024. As in the military, Mack was frequently rewarded and recognized for his job well done.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jace Breeland. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kelly McIlwain Breeland; children Mackenzie (Tim) Sussman and Lucas Breeland; siblings Laura (John) Riley, Joe Pete, and Gen (Donna) Breeland; granddaughter Elsie Sussman; and several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Throughout his life, Mack was passionate about hunting and fishing. He was consistently involved in youth sports as both coach and supporter. He also enjoyed attending Mississippi State sporting events and following high school football.
