In Loving Memory of Marie Smith

Marie died April 23, 2018, age 73, at her home in Tylertown, Mississippi, cared for and watched over to the end by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Bobby E. Smith, Sr.

Born in New Orleans the daughter of Lillian Leggett and Robert Smith, Marie became the youngest Fashion Buyer for D H Holmes, at the age of 17.  She completed her career at the legendary Department Store, GIMBELS, New York.   She was an accomplished pianist and loved to sing!  Her endless energy and constant engagement in life was admired and made her many friends.  She loved Kitty Cats and she was wrapped around their little paws! Her patience and attentiveness drew them to her.  Her childlike playfulness, coupled with her peppery language and wit, kept all who knew her laughing and having fun in life.

Marie is survived by her husband, Bobby Smith, of Covington, LA; five sisters Melanie Champagne of Laplace, LA, Stephanie Brown of Jefferson, LA, Ruth Tomlinson of Metairie, LA, Darlene Maique of Metairie, LA, and Lynette Smith of Metairie, LA; 12 nieces and nephews; 9 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces and one great-great nephew.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father.

Those who knew Marie will never forget her laughter and her enjoyment of life!

She will go on, and we will know her again.

Love to you, Marie. Go well our dearest Sister, Aunt, Godmother, and devoted Wife.

A Memorial Service celebrating Marie's life will be held at a later date.
