Martha Janis Morris, 84 of Tylertown, MS passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. She was born Wednesday, June 29, 1938 in West Point, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at Crystal Springs Baptist Church in 941 Hwy 48, Tylertown, MS. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery. Danny Stevens and Lonnie Case will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was employed by Trustmark National Bank for 54 years where she worked her way up the ladder to become the Vice President before her retirement. She enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, listening to gospel music and hearing the piano being played. In her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis bike riding, and visiting revivals at other churches.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dude and Cornelia Herring; and infant son John William Morris.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years Rex Morris; daughter Connie Smith (Larry, Russell, and Kala); her extra daughter Julia Lott (Dewey); brother Reed Herring; nieces and nephews Wayne Herring (Kristi), Cindy Womack (Bruce), Gwen Luckey (Wes), Ramona Tucker (Marshall), Libby McKenzie (Mike), Greg Rimes, David Rimes (Laurie) and their extended families.
Pallbearers will be Brett Johnson, David Reagan, Brett Jones, Todd Fortenberry, Scott Prisk, Keith Gerald, Chad Rowley, and Scott Ervin. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Crystal Springs Baptist Church.
Seats of Honor Martha's Sunday School Class, Suzanne Rutan, Carolyn Reagan, Denise Crumb, Irma Hughes, Norma Lee Pigott, and Pat Sumrall .
Special music will be performed by Mary Jane Stogner and Debera Reeves.
