Obituary

Mary Hunt Bullock, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away on November 23, 2023, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on January 27, 1925, in Sturgis, Mississippi, Mary lived a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Mary's journey began in Sturgis where she attended school before eventually graduating from Wood Junior College. After completing her education, Mary embarked on a professional career as a secretary at Mississippi State University. Her commitment and exceptional work ethic were evident throughout her tenure at the university.

In 1950, Mary's path took an extraordinary turn when she married the love of her life, Rex Bullock. Together they built a beautiful life centered around love, faith, and devotion to their children. Mary gracefully transitioned from her role as a secretary to that of a loving homemaker. Her nurturing spirit and selflessness knew no bounds as she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family.

Mary's passion for community involvement led her to become an active member of various churches wherever life took her and Rex. She played an integral role in shaping the spiritual growth of others through teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Additionally, she made invaluable contributions by serving on committees and lending a helping hand during church suppers or when fellow members were ill. Mary was known for being one of the first faces to greet newcomers with open arms when they arrived in town.

Beyond her many roles within the community, Mary found joy in being a den mother for Cub Scouts—a testament to her boundless energy and commitment to guiding young minds. It was through activities like these that she made lasting impressions on those around her.

Mary Hunt Bullock's legacy extends beyond her accomplishments; it lies within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family, including her children Karen, Ronnie, and the late Ken, and many others who were fortunate enough to know her as a friend or neighbor.

Mary is survived by her daughter Karen Macris (Jack); son Ronnie Bullock (Brenda); grandchildren Chris Macris (Carley), Jenny Macris, Katy Delk (Morgan), Kyle Bullock (Nikki), and Aaron Bullock, great grandchildren  Dustin Bullock, Hunter Bullock, Sadie Bullock,  Jack Macris, Robyn Bullock, and Seth Bullock.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rex Bullock; parents Roy and Dezree Hunt; and son Ken Bullock.
