Mary Ann Harvey, 79 of Jayess, MS passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born Wednesday, January 12, 1944 in Tylertown, MS.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 10:30 AM until funeral service at 12:00 noon at Sartinville United Methodist at 6 E Sartinville Road, Jayess, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Sartinville Cemetery. Brother Eddie Bates and Brother Chance May will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt that was always invested in her family. After marrying the love of her life, Jerry; she became a member of Sartinville United Methodist Church. She was active in the church choir, Vacation Bible school, and cemetery committee. Mary was dedicated to her faith and making sure her children grow up with strong Christian values.  She would remind everyone to pray and trust in the Lord daily. Mrs. Mary had a great work ethic which she expressed by working in her yard growing flowers and cleaning her house. She will be missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her father Charlie Bates; mother Bertha Mae Bowlin Bates; brothers John Bates, W C Bates, Robert Bates, Marion Bates, Herbert Bates, Willie Bates, Aubrey Bates and Clyde Bates; sisters Mattie Boyd, Audrey Ferguson, Ruby Brekeen, and Doris Perry.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years Jerry Harvey; son Lynn Harvey (Stacey); daughter Daphne Knight (Douglas); grandchildren Austin Knight (Shelby), Cameron Boyd, and Kristin Carter; great grandchildren Kinsleigh Mitchell, Myles Knight, Mya Knight, Addison Freeman, Jamison Carter and Grayson Carter; longtime friend Dian Anthony; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Boyd, Jamie Bates, Mike Anthony, Ken Ainsworth, Keith Brekeen, Jim Speakes, Mark Tynes, and Greg Haney.
