Funeral services for Merriel E. Stringer, 86, of Monticello, MS will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Capps Funeral Home with Reverend Glen Hilton officiating. Burial will be in the Wood Cemetery.

Mrs. Stringer passed away at Billdora Senior Care Center in Tylertown, Mississippi on Monday, April 15, 2019. Merriel was born April 11, 1933 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Inez and Percy Wood. She is also preceded in death by her husband Hollis Stringer and two sisters.

Merriel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and playing with her grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Jeff Stringer and Michael Stringer; grandchildren Michelle Dragoo, Farrah Stringer, Katie Stringer, Mika Stringer; great-grandchildren Madison Honea, Dylan Dragoo, John Dragoo, Lane Wibright, and Rylea Wibright; brother Gerald (Nithea) Wood; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving family.

Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 1:00 PM until service at 3:00 PM.
