Mildred Louise
Stinson Brumfield
July 30, 1938 – September 1, 2022
Mildred Louise Stinson Brumfield, 84, of Tylertown, MS, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Billdora Senior Care in Tylertown. She was born Saturday, July 30, 1938, in Tylertown, to the late Ottis Lampton Stinson and Sylvia Agnes Lee Stinson.
Visitation will be held Friday September 2, 2022 at Dexter Pentecostal Church at 717 Hwy 48 east, Tylertown, MS from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Terrell officiating. Interment will follow at Rushing Cemetery.
Mildred was a licensed cosmetologist for much of her life and thoroughly enjoyed 'fixing hair'. She was employed by Haspel Brothers for many years, and then owned and operated a down-town convenience store, BSL, with her husband Sherman, where she came to know many Walthall Countians and made some wonderful friends that she kept up with through the years. 'Mrs. Mildred' was known by many as a sassy lady with a quick wit and as one who could be counted on to 'tell it like it is'! She rarely met a stranger - literally. In her later years, Mildred enjoyed working as a security guard employed by Securitas. When she finally retired completely, she enjoyed cooking her specialties of some seriously delicious red beans and rice with all the trimmings and her family's favorite vegetable beef soup. Mildred studied interior design and enjoyed decorating her home - she will be sorely missed by QVC, Amazon, and her UPS delivery drivers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman W. Brumfield; infant son, Terry Austin Martin; parents, Ottis and Sylvia Stinson; and sister, Georgie Merle Stinson Harper.
