Myra Janette Pittman Alexander

April 14, 1941 – September 6, 2026

Myra Janette Pittman Alexander, 85, of Tylertown, MS passed away peacefully on September 6 , 2026 at the Camellia Estates in McComb, MS. Janette was born to the late Joe Neal and Grace Pigott Pittman on April 14, 1941. She graduated from Dexter High School and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Mississippi College in Jackson, MS. Janette was married to the late Tommy Alexander in 1962 for 48 years. Along with her husband and parents she is also preceded in death by her sister Mary Jo Shappley.

Tommy was a high school football coach, and Janette was a junior high science teacher for 30 years. They relocated several times to different schools during their career, eventually settling in Tylertown, MS in the Dexter Community.

Janette is survived by her 3 children Joey (Paige) Alexander of Magnolia, MS, Janet (Keith) Crawford of Tylertown, MS and Brandi (Billy Ray) Warner of McComb, MS. She is also survived by 4 beautiful grandchildren, Kalan (Matt) Magee, Joe Alexander, Carly (Peyton) Harvey, and Brady Warner; great grandchildren, Breyden Magee, Rebekah Magee, and Walker Thomas Harvey; sister Gayle Pittman Lee of Hattiesburg, MS; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Janette loved to travel with her two favorite girls known as the “Golden Girls” which were Becky Byrd Lee and the late Faye Herring. She also loved to travel with her sister going on numerous trips, taking trips to the casino, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Crystal Springs Baptist Church, DAR which she really loved, and the MS teacher astronaut program at Stennis Space Center. She enjoyed teaching science to numerous students throughout her remaining years at Dexter.

Visitation will be held at Crystal Springs Baptist Church, 941 MS Hwy 48, Tylertown, MS 39667, on September 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM until service time at 4:00 PM with Bro. Tommy Stogner officiating. Interment will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery,

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Warner, Brady Warner, Peyton Harvey, Steve Crawford, Joe Alexander, and Matt Magee; honorary pallbearers will be Keith Crawford, Breyden Magee, Bill Pittman, and David Earl Lee.
