November 2, 1928 – June 8, 2023
O D Martin, 94 of Tylertown, Mississippi passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023. He was born Friday, November 2, 1928 to the late H T and Maudena Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Martin and his brother Truly Martin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and also Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 9:30 AM until service time at 10:30 AM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home at 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Tylertown Cemetery II in Tylertown, Mississippi. Bro. Justin Knight and Bro. Buddy Day will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. O D was a longtime member and deacon of Tylertown Baptist Church. As part of his service there he went on many mission trips with the church. He was a local dairy farmer for around 50 years. He and his wife Mrs. Yvonne helped start the Dairy Festival. Mr. O D was a member of the Dexter Fire Department and helped out with the State Disaster Relief. He served as a director of Farm Bureau, Federal Land Bank and Production Credit Services. He also served on the board of Trustmark National Bank. His hobbies included hunting and fishing with his favorite being fishing. His heart belonged to his family and spending time with those he loved.
Survivors include his son Larry Martin (Mona); daughters Dianne Crawley (Al) and Judy Dean (Terry); grandchildren Kenny Martin, Karen Beasley (Mike), Angela Torres (Kevin), Patrick Crawley (Jessica), Amanda Puckett (Kenny), Sam Dean (Karyn) ; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Puckett, Keith Sanford, Sam Dean, Bradley Farve, Nathan Wicker, and Patrick Crawley. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Magee, Glenn Pigott, and Rex Morris.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Batson Children Hospital 2500 N State Street, Jackson, MS 39216 or to Tylertown Baptist Church for the Elevator fund, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS 39667.
